Utah High School Cycling League (UHSCL) is a nonprofit youth organization dedicated to getting students on bikes while building character, confidence, and community. As an affiliate of the National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA), the league is part of a nationwide movement transforming youth sports through mountain biking.
Serving students in grades 6–12, UHSCL provides a welcoming and inclusive environment where every participant has the opportunity to ride, grow, and belong. With no tryouts and no bench, the league ensures that all riders—regardless of skill level—can participate fully and develop at their own pace. This emphasis on inclusivity sets UHSCL apart, creating a positive experience focused on personal growth rather than competition alone.
The league supports the formation of school-based and community teams, offering education, training, licensing, and insurance for coaches and volunteers. Through structured practices and organized race events, students gain not only athletic skills but also valuable life lessons in teamwork, perseverance, and sportsmanship.
UHSCL races and events are designed to prioritize fun, camaraderie, and well-being. While competition is part of the experience, the league’s core values—fun, inclusivity, equity, respect, and community—guide everything they do. This approach helps students build confidence, form lasting friendships, and develop a lifelong love of cycling.
In addition to student participation, UHSCL relies on a strong network of volunteer coaches and community support to expand its impact. Whether you’re a student looking to join a team, a parent seeking a positive activity, or an adult interested in coaching, there are many ways to get involved.
By combining outdoor adventure with personal development, the Utah High School Cycling League empowers young riders to thrive both on and off the bike.
