UMA Driver Education provides a comprehensive program designed to help new drivers gain the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to earn their driver’s license and drive safely. The program combines online learning with hands-on instruction, creating a balanced approach that prepares students for both the written permit test and real-world driving situations.
The course includes a structured driver education curriculum that begins with a 30-hour online theory class. This portion of the program teaches students the essential rules of the road, traffic laws, safe driving practices, and responsible decision-making behind the wheel. The flexible online format allows students to learn at their own pace while building the foundational knowledge required to pass their learner’s permit exam.
In addition to classroom instruction, students gain practical experience through driving simulation and supervised driving time. The program includes four hours of driving simulation that helps students practice real-life driving scenarios in a controlled environment. This simulation training allows new drivers to develop awareness, reaction skills, and confidence before entering actual traffic situations.
Students also participate in behind-the-wheel training with certified driving instructors who guide them through real-world driving environments. During these sessions, instructors help students practice essential driving techniques, including navigating residential streets, city traffic, highways, and freeways. These lessons provide valuable feedback and instruction that help students develop safe and responsible driving habits.
To meet state requirements, students also complete additional practice driving hours with a parent, guardian, or licensed adult driver. This supervised practice ensures that students gain enough experience to feel comfortable handling a variety of road conditions and driving situations.
