Welcome to Science Mom, where learning comes to life through curiosity, creativity, and discovery. Founded by Science Mom, who holds an M.S. in Plant Science from Utah State University, and Math Dad, who earned his Ph.D. from Penn State, we create interactive, self-paced science and math courses that make complex ideas fun and understandable for students and families everywhere.
Our secular curriculum is designed to be open-and-go, requiring little to no preparation or supervision. Each science course includes follow-along notes, interactive comprehension questions, and quizzes that help reinforce learning. Students can participate in polls during recorded lessons, take on creative science and art projects, and explore real-world applications of what they learn. Our math courses use the powerful Desmos platform, where students watch engaging video lessons, complete exploratory activities, and practice new concepts through hands-on exercises that deepen understanding.
Students can move at their own pace and complete courses whenever it fits their schedule. A suggested pace of three days per week for science and four days per week for math allows for a full semester of meaningful learning without stress or overwhelm. Families can choose from a wide variety of subjects including Earth Science, Chemistry, Biology, Astronomy, and Physics, as well as math bundles ranging from Fractions and Grade 6 Math through Algebra 1.
We are proud to partner with many charter schools and state education programs across the country, helping families access high-quality learning wherever they are. Thanks to the generosity of our supporters on Patreon, we also offer scholarships for students in need, with special funds dedicated to families affected by cancer.
