Specializing in working with neurodivergent swimmers, those with intellectual disability, autism, ADHD, sensory sensitivities, anxiety, & PDA - Equally supportive of swimmers without additional needs.

AuSome Aquatics provides thoughtful, individualized swim instruction designed especially for neurodiverse learners. With a calm and compassionate teaching style, Rei, your coach at AuSome, creates a water environment where students feel safe, supported, and capable—regardless of past swim experiences or challenges.

The AuSome Aquatics approach is grounded in sensory-informed practice and a deep understanding of how neurodivergent children—particularly those on the autism spectrum—engage with water, movement, and instruction. Each session is carefully adapted to the individual swimmer’s needs. They adjust the pace, communication style, and structure to ensure students aren’t overwhelmed, allowing them to build skills and confidence on their own timeline.

As a neurodivergent entrepreneur who’s been swimming since 1999 and teaching since 2007, Rei created this program with neurodivergent learners in mind. She specialize in working with students with ADHD, autism, PDA, anxiety, and hypermobility (EDS-aware), but I welcome all learners—including those without sensory or adaptive needs.

For many families, AuSome Aquatics provides a refreshing alternative to traditional swim lessons. AuSome emphasizes emotional safety and self-regulation as much as stroke technique or water safety. Students are encouraged to explore the water gently, gaining familiarity and trust in their own abilities. There’s no pressure—just steady support that respects each child’s learning process.

Lessons may include games, floating, guided movement, or simply time to adjust to the sensory environment of the pool. Rei’s intuitive teaching style, paired with her understanding of sensory processing, allows her to meet students where they are and help them move forward—both physically and emotionally.

Families regularly share how much calmer and more confident their children feel after working with AuSome Aquatics. For kids who have experienced anxiety, sensory overload, or difficulty in group swim classes, AuSome Aquatics offers a welcoming, one-on-one alternative rooted in care and expertise.
