At Aspire Mountain Academy our mission is to teach quality classes that help students be inspired, love learning, and think deeply in a spirit-filled environment. We are also committed to building a community where students can build lasting friendships. Aspire Mountain Academy is a drop-off microschool that offers history, science, & leadership classes. Our classes also include music and art appreciation, memorizations, handicrafts, nature journaling, inspiring literature, outdoor skills, P.E. games & folk dancing. Outside of class we do regular temple trips, park days, field trips, service projects and more!
Aspire is a place where the spirit is abundant so the students truly can be taught by the spirit as they are learning truths and making connections in a variety of subjects. We believe the spirit is the best teacher and so creating a spirit-filled environment is our highest priority. As we integrate secular learning with spiritual learning, we rely on the spirit to carry the truths of the different subjects and ideas into the students’ hearts.
From kindergarten up through 8th grade, we teach true principles, woven throughout each lesson, to provide a firm foundation of truth. We also carefully select the best books, weave spiritual learning in with secular, and encourage and inspire the students to understand what gifts and talents they have that make them unique.
We strongly draw upon principles from A Thomas Jefferson Education by Oliver DeMille which outlines leadership education, or rather, the education that should produce a leader. It is the type of education that Thomas Jefferson and many of our Founding Fathers obtained. Using The Well-Educated Heart philosophy developed by Marlene Peterson, students hearts are warmed to subjects by teaching with stories, poetry, music, paintings, dancing, singing, and other heart-filled activities. This method emphasizes helping each person love learning and find great joy in it. And in alignment with Charlotte Mason’s teaching, we spread a feast before the students (teach a variety of subjects) to inspire a wide range of interests.
This program is especially well-suited for students with learning differences, anxiety, or those who simply need a slower, more spirit filled rhythm. To learn more about the academy’s mission, structure, and offerings, visit: aspiremountainacademy.org
