Gracie Barra Layton is a family-focused Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu academy offering structured martial arts programs for children, teens, and adults. The academy emphasizes discipline, respect, confidence, personal growth, fitness, and self-defense while providing a welcoming environment for students of different ages and experience levels. Its programs follow the Gracie Barra teaching philosophy and curriculum.
Children can participate in age-specific programs beginning with Little Champions 1 for ages 3–5, followed by Little Champions 2 for ages 6–9. Juniors and Teens ages 10–15 can develop more advanced techniques while working on leadership and optional competition preparation. Adult programs are available for ages 16 and older at all skill levels, with instruction covering fundamentals through advanced training. The academy also offers a women’s class and an Adults BJJ Boxing program combining striking and grappling.
For younger students, classes incorporate games and age-appropriate activities to develop coordination, focus, discipline, and confidence. The academy also highlights anti-bullying and character development as part of its children’s programming. Adults can train for fitness, self-defense, stress relief, or personal development in a supportive community environment. Family classes are offered on Saturdays, giving family members an opportunity to train together.
Gracie Barra Layton is led by Professor Steve Crisler, a certified black belt who opened the academy in 2024. The academy is part of the broader Gracie Barra network and offers certified instruction in a structured training environment. It also participates in Utah Fits All, Harmony Education, Children First, and OpenEd educational programs.
