Segue Expressive Therapies provides professional music therapy services throughout Davis and Weber Counties, using music and creative expression to support wellness, connection, communication, and quality of life. Services are designed for individuals and groups across a variety of settings, including senior activity centers, hospice and palliative care, community programs, and services for children and individuals with developmental or behavioral needs.
Music therapy uses purposeful musical experiences—such as singing, instrument playing, movement, songwriting, improvisation, music listening, and reminiscence—to address individualized goals. Sessions can be adapted to a person’s abilities, interests, culture, and circumstances, making music an accessible way to encourage participation and self-expression.
For older adults, music therapy can support social connection, memory, emotional well-being, communication, and meaningful engagement. The practice has provided recurring music therapy sessions through Davis County senior centers, where the program was associated with positive engagement and quality-of-life benefits. Music can also provide an especially accessible form of participation for people who communicate in languages other than English.
Services also extend to hospice and palliative care, where music can support patients and families through comfort, emotional expression, reminiscence, legacy work, and meaningful connection. Additional areas of specialization include Alzheimer’s disease and dementia, intellectual disabilities, and behavioral disorders in children and adolescents.
Led by board-certified music therapist Emily Salisbury, the practice brings together professional music therapy training with specialized experience in hospice care and gerontology. The overall approach uses the arts as a practical and engaging pathway toward wellness, connection, and individualized therapeutic goals.
