Outdoor Homeschool Enrichment and Nature-Based Learning Classes in Utah County

Fir & Feather offers nature-based homeschool enrichment classes for children ages 4–12, combining outdoor exploration, hands-on activities, creative discovery, and social-emotional learning. Serving families in the Provo Canyon and Pleasant Grove areas of Utah County, the program provides an opportunity for children to learn beyond traditional classroom walls while developing a meaningful connection with the natural world.

Classes are organized into age-based groups designed to support children’s developmental needs and interests. Younger learners ages 4–6 explore nature through imaginative play, hands-on discovery, and opportunities to build independence, courage, and problem-solving skills. Children ages 7–9 engage more deeply with the environment through activities involving natural materials, plant dyes, charcoal, clay, and guided foraging. Older students ages 10–12 explore child-led challenges and practical outdoor skills, including shelter building, safe knife use, mindful foraging, meditation, and bushcraft.

Each session follows a consistent rhythm that balances group games, community connection, individual activities, nature journaling, lunch, and free play. This structure gives children room to follow their curiosity while benefiting from guidance and shared experiences with peers.

Social-emotional development is central to the learning experience. Children are encouraged to practice self-regulation, empathy, responsible decision-making, relationship building, resilience, and confidence as they navigate outdoor challenges and collaborate with others. Instructors guide learning while allowing students the freedom to explore, ask questions, solve problems, and develop independence.

For homeschooling families seeking meaningful outdoor enrichment, these classes offer a welcoming environment where nature becomes a classroom and everyday discoveries become opportunities for growth, creativity, stewardship, and lifelong learning.
